Stakeholder Workshops Conducted to Identify Climate Related Issues in Agriculture and Fisheries

The Lanka Impact Investing Network (LIIN) and the Climate Collective Foundation (CCF) (India), with funding from the USAID Climate Adaptation Project, are proud to announce the launch of the “Data4Climate” Hackathon for Climate Smart Agriculture and Fisheries in Sri Lanka.
This groundbreaking initiative aims to develop innovative, data-driven solutions to build resilience in Sri Lanka's agriculture and fisheries sectors. As the main activity of the project first ever climate data Hackathon for Climate smart agriculture and fisheries has been planned and it is a strategic initiative aimed at developing innovative, data-driven solutions to improve climate adaptation and resilience in Sri Lanka's agriculture and fisheries sectors.
The hackathon will bring together the top 20 teams/applicants, who will collaborate with data practitioners, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Hackathon applicants will have access to real-world data and receive guidance from industry experts, fostering the development of sustainable and adaptive solutions.
To ensure the hackathon addresses the most pressing challenges, four stakeholder consultation workshops “Identifying and formulating problem statements for climate-smart agriculture and fisheries sector in Sri Lanka” were conducted in Colombo, Kandy, Batticaloa, and Jaffna, covering Western, Eastern, Central, and Northern provinces. These workshops facilitated discussions among local private sector companies, government agencies, industry experts, CSOs, and academic institutions in agriculture and fisheries. At each workshop very fruitful and interactive discussions took place for shaping problem statements based on insights and expertise from stakeholders.
