Project Introduction

Water hyacinth, also known as “Japan Jabara” is a troubling plant and the government spends a large sum of money on removing them, along with banana trees after the fruit has been harvested. Mr Priyantha Gamini Alaxznder from Kadawatha produces handmade papers using removed banana trees and water hyacinth. Most of the villagers support and work with him during the production process. His business is still in an early stage but will continue to grow with the investment of Rs. 1 million, of which LIIN has already deployed Rs. 300,000. In addition to the investment, LIIN is supporting his business performance and provides necessary guidance to achieve his objectives.
